First, apologies for the long silence. I spent the month of October training in the kitchen of Pure Food and Wine, a fabulous gourmet raw vegan restaurant in New York. It was a great experience, and I’ll share more information about it in later posts. I’ll also review some of the vegan restaurants I tried out (raw and cooked) in New York and Los Angeles. And Raw Tuesday take-aways will be back on, starting next week.
But first, something for your diary. Johannesburg’s monthly raw vegan potluck has established itself as a great event, with delicious food, interesting speakers, and a lovely group of people interested in raw food. This month’s potluck will be the last of the year, so don’t miss it! The theme is Festive Season, so challenge yourself to bring something a little fancier than just a salad (not that we don’t love salad around here). This month we are lucky to have Peter and Beryn Daniel (of Soaring Free Superfoods and Rawlicious fame) as guests, and guest speakers.
Potluck venue: The Regent Hotel: 21 West Road South, Sandton, Johannesburg
Date/Time: Thursday, 18 November. Arrive between 6-7:00. Dinner is at 7:00 sharp, and the talk is from 7:30-8:30. There will even be prizes!
What to bring: a delicious, festive raw vegan meal (large serving); a serving dish and any necessary utensils for serving; R10 for the use of the venue; a card with your recipe/ ingredients on it.
